Timey Tell Pull String Doll
I bought yet another Vintage Pull String Doll, Timey Tell Doll, to Restore. As you can see, she needs work, and her voice/talk box needs fixing. We plan to have how we did it all here.
Much more coming soon.
Please come back and visit the pages on our website often as we add on to them as we go. We also have Youtube Videos on how we restore our dolls (and train our some of our animals). We hope you will watch them and 'Like' them.
Timey Tell Bath Time
Becuase of the way that Timey Tell is made, arm and voice boxes connected, I barely got her wet when I cleaned her. I used a wet wash cloth, held her so carefully away from the water of any sort.
Timey Tell Hair Wash and Dip
My Timey Tell's Hair was, well, you see the photo above. It is not that it was so bad, but it was. <smiles> It had that old doll greasy feel, and it was dirty.
Because of Timey Tell's Arm Device, not wanting o get the arm wet because of the Watch and Voice Box hook ups, I wrapped Timey Tell in TWO shopping bags. I tied one in the front, tight; and I tied one in the back, tight.
After washing her hair, keeping her upside down and the Watch Arm away from the water; I did do the Fabric Softener hair dip....Oh How She NEEDED that. From there, we tied her, still in the bags, body and feet and hung her to dry. You can see in the photo she had company during drying time. Tiny Chatty Baby's hair is a mess....working on it too. (I bought her to remove her hair to reroot....so experimenting with it first). My husband said she was, "Hanging out with her friend".
You can see Videos of how I wash and dip the Dolls hair listed below in our Restoration Videos.
Washing Timey Tell's Original Clothing
I did something just a bit different today... I did the usual cleaning, as I do with the Vintage Doll Clothes, with a BIG Glob of GOOP Hand Cleaner, rubbed that into the dry clothing, let set. Then I rinsed and washed with De-greaser Dish Soap. After that. After the Dolls had their hair soaked in the Hot Fabric Softner, I poured that over the Clothing and let set for about 20 minutes, then rinsed. I AM GLAD I DID! I really believe I got a bit more of the grim out that was left behind by time. And. The clothing smells so good (as does their hair) after the Fabric Softner Treatments!
I lay all the Doll Clothing out on Towels to dry.
